I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April 2003,
initially, I felt numb when I was told that I had Breast Cancer and did not register what I had been told. I went through the whole rigmarole of tests, lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy.
Throughout this period my family supported me, in particular my 14 year old daughter, who despite being in the middle of her GCSE's, was always on stand-by!!!
During this period I met Pushpa Martin, who had volunteered to help other Asian women with her support. Once we were over the counseling period of few weeks we jointly decided to set up a group. After being introduced to Amarjit, we set up to form the AWBCG.
My journey has been an eventful one, once having concluded this dreadful word CANCER.
I have a new lease of life. I want to tell all my fellow female Asian women to know that this change of life isn't necessarily an end of life, but a new beginning if you want it to be!
